Relation between Head Capsule Width and Fresh Weight in some Caterpillar Species (Lepidoptera: Geometridae, Tortricidae)

Abstract:

The relationship between head capsule width and fresh body weight of some caterpillars was analysed considering 2 linear regression models:

Model-1: log(weight) = log(S) + E * log(head width), Model-2: weight = S * (head width)^3. Both models gave similar results and are good descriptions of the relationship. Nevertheless, model-2, assuming isometric growth, has some advantages for applications.
